Extra-Curricular Activities

The ethos of SOBIS is to provide a holistic Islamic education for children, with an emphasis on learning, creativity, and service to others. We bring this to life through a diverse range of extra-curricular activities offered throughout the year, enriching our students’ experience beyond the classroom.

Award and Graduation Ceremony

Each year, SOBIS hosts a prestigious award ceremony that honours students for exceptional achievement and learning. As part of this event, our final-year students participate in a memorable graduation ceremony, celebrating the completion of their eight-year course. Graduates are awarded a certificate and a commemorative trophy.

Inter-House Competition

All SOBIS students are placed in friendly ‘houses’ to promote camaraderie and positive competition. Through year-round activities, students build friendships across classes, strive for excellence, and share in the thrill of teamwork. The winning house enjoys a special prize or treat at year’s end.

Sports Day

Our annual Sports Day reflects the Islamic tradition of nurturing both body and mind. Drawing inspiration from the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW), the day is filled with joy, physical activity, and community spirit.

Functions

Our students showcase their talents through plays and performances that explore Islamic history and values. These functions nurture confidence and creativity while bringing together families and the wider Muslim community for uplifting cultural celebrations.

Dinners

Formal dinners are hosted to mark key achievements and support fundraising efforts. These events not only involve the local community,  but allow students to develop valuable organisational and event management skills in an inspiring, hands-on way.

BBQs

Summer BBQs offer a relaxed and joyful space where students, staff, parents, and guests from the broader community come together. These gatherings foster unity, compassion, and the joy of simply spending time together.

Trips and Fun Days

Throughout the years, SOBIS has organised unforgettable trips and outings—from theme parks to group iftars and celebratory desserts for competition winners. These experiences deepen bonds and bring cherished memories to life.

Workshops

Special workshops are held to coincide with key moments in the Islamic calendar, including Ramadan and Hajj. These immersive sessions prepare students spiritually and intellectually, and sometimes welcome the wider community for shared learning and reflection.

Projects

SOBIS students engage in themed projects throughout the year, giving them a chance to dive deeper into Islamic teachings. Notable past themes include The Seerah of the Prophet SAW and Stories of the Prophets.

Wider Community

SOBIS nurtures meaningful outreach. We have taken part in the inter-faith Eisteddfod, Black History Month performances at WMC, and storytelling collaborations with the Sherman Theatre. These experiences broaden student perspectives and strengthen their role within society.
