OUR STORY

Since 1995, SOBIS has been committed to making Islamic education accessible, engaging, and meaningful for the youth of Cardiff. What began with six children in a living room has grown into a vibrant weekly school impacting hundreds of young lives every year. The meticulously structured curriculum has been developed over 3 decades to provide a robust and authentic understanding of the essential principles of Islam. SOBIS classes are held at Cardiff High School every Friday evening from 6-8:30pm.

Our Aims & Objectives

SOBIS aims to provide the youth of Cardiff, from all walks of life, with a comprehensive education in the essential principles of Islam.

The aims and objectives of SOBIS are:

  • To provide sound Islamic teaching to make good Muslims and in turn good citizens that will benefit society
  • To promote self confidence and social and communication skills
  • To instil respect for moral values and tolerance of others 
  • To encourage a passion for learning and gaining knowledge
  • To promote interactive learning
  • To secure premises that will help further these aims and that will benefit the wider community.

SOBIS is a registered charity and is managed by the Headteacher and founder, Dr Sufia Lal, and overseen by a board of trustees. A volunteer team of teachers and support officers run the operations of SOBIS.
